National
Association of Broadcasters (NAB) and
the Armed Forces Relief Trust (AFRtrust)
In
the twentieth century, the electronic media of radio
and television have established themselves as the nation's
unique unifiersbringing news, entertainment, cultural
events, sports, educational and public affairs programming,
and a wealth of other information into American homes.
Recognizing this unique responsibility, America's local
radio and television stations have a long history of
being a part of America's security and serving its community
in times of need. Today, the National Association of
Broadcasters (NAB) is proud to perform its patriotic
duty by supporting the Armed Forces Relief Trust (AFRtrust),
a new non-profit fund created to collect donations for
U.S. troops and their families.
Together,
NAB and AFRtrust have produced compelling public
service announcements (PSAs) to encourage television
viewers and radio listeners to contribute to the AFRtrust.
NAB has distributed these PSAs to all radio and television
stations nationwide and is working to ensure that the
spots are aired frequently. In addition, the AFRtrust
public service campaign will be heavily promoted and
accessible on the NAB Web site, www.nab.org,
as well as on this site.
