FAQs about Donating to the Armed Forces Relief Trust

How can I contribute?

You can contribute to the AFRtrust online using a credit card, or by mailing a check to:

Armed Forces Relief Trust
Department 6055
Washington DC 20042-6055

Where exactly is my money going?

Your donation will go to the Armed Forces Relief Trust (AFRtrust) and will be divided among the four military relief organizations-- Army Emergency Relief, Air Force Aid Society, Coast Guard Mutual Assistance and the Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society.

If you would like your charitable contribution to benefit just one of the military aid societies, simply click on the appropriate logo at the bottom of this page and look for information regarding donations or contributions on the organization's website.

What percentage of my money actually goes to the Armed Forces Relief Trust?

If you chose to mail in your payment, 100% of your payment goes to the Trust for distribution to the four Military Relief Societies. To learn more about them please visit the appropriate society's Web site by clinking on their logo at the bottom of this page.

If you choose to donate online, PayPal, the online financial transaction processing service, will take 2.9 percent plus 30 cents of your donation and the rest is deposited into the AFRtrust bank account. For example, if you contribute $100, AFRtrust will receive $96.80.

Can I get a tax write-off for donating to AFRtrust?

Yes, AFRtrust is tax exempt under 501(c)(3) of the IRS code and the Tax ID number is 52-6468495.

What will my donation be used for?

Your donation will be placed in the Trust for distribution to the four military aid societies. Each aid society has its own criteria for aid distribution, but all provide financial assistance to meet emergency as well as every day needs of the troops and their families. Generally, these needs can be broken down into four categories: emergency, medical, transportation and education. Visit the military aid society Web sites for specific information.
